Ousama Algosaibi, Project Masam’s Managing Director, has met with Lieutenant General Saghir Hamoud Ahmed Bin Aziz, Chief of the General Staff and Commander of Joint Operations in Yemen, in a meeting in Riyadh, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday to discuss future work plans.

During the meeting, Algosaibi reviewed Project Masam’s ongoing efforts to clear landmines, explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance planted by the Houthi terrorist militia, aiming to protect Yemeni civilians and ensure safer living conditions across affected areas.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Saghir bin Aziz praised the sacrifices made by Project Masam’s demining teams to save innocent lives and protect Yemenis from the dangers posed the Houthis.

In the meeting, he highlighted the continued use of internationally banned landmines and explosives by this terrorist group – a blatant violation of humanitarian and international laws.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Yemeni Armed Forces to the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen, as well as to the international conventions and charters to which Yemen is a signatory, including international humanitarian law.

The Chief of Staff also discussed with Project Masam’s head plans to authorise Project Masam’s deminers to expand demining operations in liberated areas falling within the operational scope of the military region. He stressed the importance of offering full support and facilitation to the programme and its demining teams to ensure the success of their vital humanitarian mission.

In turn, Algosaibi underscored the significant role played by the Yemeni Armed Forces in confronting the Houthi militia, commending the sacrifices of its members in their efforts to restore security and stability throughout Yemen.

He expressed his gratitude for the support and assistance provided by the Yemeni Armed Forces to Project Masam, stating: “This project, which carries out a vital humanitarian mission by enabling our Yemeni brothers to resume their daily lives free from the threat of landmines and improvised explosive devices, has – by the grace of God and through the cooperation of our partners – achieved remarkable results in line with internationally recognised mine clearance standards.”

He reaffirmed Project Masam’s unwavering commitment to its mission, emphasising that the project will spare no effort to achieve its ultimate goal: a Yemen free of mines.
