Project Masam clears 5,711 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 5,711 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in May 2025.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 1,504 landmines and UXO last week, including four anti-personnel mines, 40 anti-tank mines, 1,459 UXO, and one IED during the period.

This brings the total number of items removed between 1 May and 23 May to 5,711.

The project’s demining teams cleared 164,246 square metres of Yemeni land last week; clearing a total of 739,545 square metres so far in May.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 67,244,455 square metres of Yemeni land.
