Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 4,394 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in October 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 636 landmines and UXO last week, including four anti-personnel landmine, 36 anti-tank mines, and 596 UXO during the period. This brings the total number of items removed between 1 October and 1 November to 4,394.
The project teams removed 42 anti-personnel landmines, 260 anti-tank mines, 4,083 UXO and nine IEDs during the same period.
The project’s demining teams cleared 216,114 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement, bringing the total cleared so far this month to 1,180,003.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 61,448,354 square metres of Yemeni land.
