Project Masam for Mine Clearance in Yemen led an operation to destroy and detonate 1013 mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices in Bab Al Mandab region in the western coast.
In an exclusive interview with Masam’s media office, the project’s Managing Director Mr Ousama Algosaibi confirmed that the destruction operation included 340 landmines, 646 shells and unexploded ordnance.
Algosaibi said that the detruction operation led by team 30 (specialized in collecting shells) is the 19th of its kind, which brings the total of destruction operations led by project Masam so far to 63 destruction and detonation operations in Yemen.
On the other hand, Masam’s teams cleared since the launch of the project until now about 170 thousand mines and unexploded ordnance.
The total size of Yemeni lands which the project’s teams cleared and secured since June 2018 until now reached 10.648.279 square meters.
