Continuing Masam’s experts program of field visits to the field teams in Shabwah governorate, the experts team led by project Masam’s Operation Manager Mr Retief Horn inspected team 9 “Masam” which works in Bayhan directorate.
And as soon as the experts arrived at Bayhan, tens of the directorate’s residents came out to welcome them in a scene that confirms the Yemeni people’s love of project Masam and the strength of the bonds that tie the project, its deminers and employees to the Yemeni people.
Team 9 Masam was able – since it started its mission in the project in the middle of 2018 – to secure and purify 17 fields and landmines in Bayhan and Usaylan directorates, that were all listed, according to the degree of their danger as a very risky regions, because they are vital areas for civilians and their source of living.
In an exclusive interview with Masam’s media office, the engineer and leader of team 9 Masam Ali Abdallah Ar Raymi reiterated that most of the fields that were secured by his team in Shabwah governorate are fields that were planted with anti-personnel mines, and they are more dangerous for civilians, according to him.
Ar Raymi indicated that the Houthi militias used diabolical methods in planting mines at random, without maps that can be used as references to know their places, which will make civilians the only ones who will pay a bloody price in years to come.
Ar Raymi added that Masam project halted the Houthi’s crimes and dreams of killing hundreds and even thousands of civilian victims who did nothing wrong except that the Houthis entered once their regions.
The Houthis militias planted mines deliberately in Bayhan and Usaylan directorates of Shabwah governorate in the mountains, roads, between the houses and roads that civilians use, in their doorsteps and inside their homes, by camouflaging the mines in ways that make them very difficult to detect.
