Engineer Khaled Hussein, Leader of Project Masam’s Team 19, told how his team had received a report of the presence of remnants of war in the Bab al-Mandab area and that this emergency humanitarian operation led to the removal of 990 mines, explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance.

Hussein said that his team moved immediately after receiving the report to deal with the emergency to prevent damage or casualties among the residents who live near this contaminated area.

Hussein stated that the entire area was combed and secured, after removing hundreds of landmines and unexploded ordnance that the militias had deliberately planted.

The team leader also commanded the quick response of the Masam teams as well as the way the humanitarian landmine clearance project deals with urgent reports and its dedication to serving the Yemeni people as well as protect them against the danger of landmines.

This, the team leader said, has contributed to a reduction in the number of potential landmine victims across several Yemeni regions.
