The Director of the Human Rights Office in Al-Jawf Governorate, Abdul-Hadi Al-Assar, said that most areas of the Governorate are contaminated with mines and are in a catastrophic situation.
Yemeni Mine Center website quoted Al-Assar as saying that the Houthi militia planted large and random fields of mines in agricultural lands, roads, government buildings, schools, and citizens paths.
Al-Assar added that the Directorates (Khub, Al-Sha`af, Al-Ghail, Al-Maslub, Al Hazm and Al-Matoun) are the most directorates of Al-Jawf in which the Houthis planted extensive networks of mines.
Al-Assar confirmed that the Human Rights Office in Al-Jawf Governorate records civilian casualties almost daily, noting that 815 mine violations were monitored from 2015 until the end of last year.
And added “Until the end of the year 2019, we recorded 190 dead, 385 cases of injury, maiming and disability, in addition to 78 cases of vehicle destruction, and about 165 cases of psychological damage to victims relatives and families, and since the beginning of this year, dozens of civilian victims have fallen.
He also confirmed that most of the mine victims in Al-Jawf Governorate fell while using the roads and during their presence in their farms or livestock grazing areas.
