Project Masam has announced its has located and destroyed 278,601 explosive devices in Yemeni liberated areas.

These include 4,118 anti-personnel mines, 91,715 anti-tank mines, 6,099 improvised explosive devices and 176,669 unexploded ordnance neutralised over 26,942,387sqm of land since mid-2018.

Last week (25 September – 01 October 2021) alone, Project Masam deminers removed 1,541 deadly items, including 1,541 anti-tank mines, 526 UXO, six IEDs and five anti-personnel mines, effectively clearing 95,760sqm of land, which has now been returned to civilians.

More than five million people are estimated to have been forced to flee their homes since the beginning of the conflict in Yemen – many of them displaced by the presence of landmines on their land.

Masam teams are tasked to clear areas of immediate humanitarian priority: villages, roads, schools, etc… in order to facilitate the safe movement of civilians and humanitarian goods and services.
