A woman was seriously injured when a landmine exploded in the Dhabab district, west of Taiz governorate.

A medical source said that Waheeda Muhammad Ahmad Alwan, 45, sustained a fractured skull and shrapnel in her left eye and left foot when a landmine, planted by the Houthi militia, blew up while she was passing through the Al-Omari area.

The source confirmed that the injured woman was taken to Al-Mocha Hospital for treatment and first aid.

Dhubab is a coastal area in the Taiz Governorate of south-western Yemen, one of the most heavily contaminated areas in the war-torn country, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen.

At the end of October, Project Masam successfully removed and destroyed 1,601 landmines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and various unexploded ordnance in Taiz.
