Today, more than ever, Project Masam’s humanitarian mine clearance operations are essential to protecting civilian lives and restoring normal life in Yemen.
Project Masam conducts humanitarian clearance in accordance with priorities set by the Yemeni National Mine Action Authority, operating through 43 field teams deployed across liberated areas. These teams work to locate, remove, and safely destroy landmines, IEDs, and unexploded ordnance (UXO) that continue to threaten communities, farmland, and infrastructure.
Our activities include:
-
Manual and mechanical clearance using international best practices.
-
Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) to help civilians recognise, avoid, and report explosive hazards.
-
Survey and mapping operations to identify contamination and guide future clearance work.
-
Technical and logistical support to YEMAC and local authorities to build long-term national capacity.
-
Victim-focused awareness campaigns to reduce injuries and promote community safety.
Every operation is guided by humanitarian priorities, transparency, and a commitment to Yemen’s recovery.
