Mines are inhuman in all their aspects. They are against all human values. Mines speak a non-human language, they have their own bloody law that spares no one. They have only one priority: to kill in a cold blood.
Old and young, women and men, military and civilians, fighters and innocent unarmed people.. All of them are targets without exception. This general crime that the Houthis are committing against the Yemeni people is not the only one. The miners with their lust for blood and killing led them to think and innovate different ways and unusual methods on where to plant them and how to hide them. The innocence of Yemeni children wasn’t spared from the grudge of this explosive death, as the Houthis prepared many scenarios to kill the Yemeni children in diabolical and bloody ways. The planters of deadly traps showed that they are not human, and that they have nothing to do with humanity to an unimaginable extent.
In the early hours of the morning, Mina Al Mahbouby went with her little brother to their farm close to the dam of Marib, more than two years ago. She went to play with tree leaves and feed her sheep, but she came back home with a Houthi mine in a shape of a children’ toy. Mina admired Its spherical shape and attractive colors, so she took it from between the trees and kept it and took it home.
Breakfast was served, and the family that consists of a father, mother and five children gathered in the lobby of the very old mud house. There, Mina invited her brother Turki to show him the toy she found, and as she pulled it out, it exploded and its shrapnel flew in all the corners of the house to kill Turki. Mina, her sister Amal and her brothers Khaled and Abdallah were injured.
Mina says in a very sad voice, and almost crying: “I thought it was toy, with its spherical shape and beautiful colors. I put it close to my head until the next day, then I invited my brother to show it to him”.
Turki died, as for her sister and brothers Amal, Khaled and Abdallah, they were injured. After “The explosion, there were very loud cries, and I lost conscience when I saw what happened to my children”. Said the mother of Mina.
From that day on, the live of this family changed after the disaster because of the unfortunate “Mined toy”, which made the innocent Mina smile at first, then became a source of sadness and sorrow for her and her family.
Mina’s family is just an example of many other families who faced the same fate because of the camouflaged deadly traps that lurk in the their homes, the vicinity of their quarters, roads and grasslands etc.. Masam works very hard, day and night, to change this situation in its long race against the mines, as it works on clearing the deadly traps, forming local teams to be able to deal with them and educate people about the dangers of mines.. Securing innocent lives remains the first priority for Masam, because its leadership and workers believe in the right of men to live a safe life.
