This turned its happiness into sadness and misery, its security into constant fear and terror, and its construction to ruin and destruction, but it could not have reached this disastrous situation until the Houthis coup against the legitimate government which made Yemen sit under an armed group that aims to reach governance in order to implement an external agenda.
Therefore, the role of the Houthi militias was not only to corrupt political life, but also expanded its role to harm innocent citizens, especially children, where the Houthi brutality against them increased.
Ever since this group emerged on the Yemeni arena, their ambitions were visible through their coup against the legitimate authority, they embarked on human rights violations against people, who discovered their ugly face and rejected their existence which made them try to take revenge in various ways. Targeting children was among the group’s methods, either through landmines, sniping or recruitment.
UNICEF has confirmed that at least 6 children are killed or injured daily by Houthi strikes since the crisis in Yemen, noting that this group is planting many landmines in different places; this scourge kills and injures dozens of children.
To mention only a few, the 9-year-old Marsh Rabie was killed, his 7-year-old brother Hammam and six-year-old Sana’a were seriously injured by a remnant landmine of terrorist militias while grazing sheep in (Yam) area in ( Nahm) district, east of (Sana’a), this militia filled it with huge numbers of landmines and explosive devices during its control over it a year and a half ago.
These coup forces in Yemen destroyed the infrastructure in addition to the random manufacturing and planting of landmines in an unprecedented manner to target unarmed Yemenis, it has resulted in permanent injuries and many human losses, especially among women and children. This is why the project Masam sought to clear all Yemeni lands from the remnants of landmines and unexploded ordnance that claimed thousands of lives.
The project director of Masam Mr. Ousama Algosaibi announced that the field teams of the project managed to clear 1528 landmines and unexploded ordnance during the first week of November, a total of 103,737 landmines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices have been cleared since the start of the project.
