The Civilian Impact Monitoring Project in Yemen said that the number of the Houthi landmines’ victims reached 68, including 37 dead, since the beginning of the year.
The Civilian Impact Monitoring Project, which is a source of humanitarian data, confirmed that the Houthi landmines planted in agricultural lands, villages, water wells and roads killed 140 civilians, including 19 children in Al Hudaydah and Taiz provinces since the beginning of 2018.
The project added that the landmines and handmade explosive devices prevented humanitarian organizations from reaching the needy populations, prevented civilians from reaching farms and water wells, and harmed civilians who were trying to return to their homes.
Since the Houthi Iranian backed militias’ coup against the state in late 2014 and their invasion of Yemeni cities with the power of arms, the militias have been using landmines in the provinces they were expelled from and hot conflict areas in Taiz, Ad Dali’, Al Hudaydah, Hijjah, Sa’ada, Marib, Al Bayda and Al Jawf.
