The leader of Project Masam’s Team 26 has confirmed that his team has succeeded in securing a civilian’s farm in the Al-Akbar area of the Hays district of Yemen’s Al-Hodeidah governorate.
The team leader said that his team received a report from a civilian stating that there was an improvised explosive device (IED) in his farm, following which Team 26 was immediately dispatched to the area, where the device was dealth with and neutralised.
During the team’s survey of the farm, five anti-tank landmines were also found and removed and the farm was fully secured.
The team leader pointed out that the farm, which has been surveyed and cleared safe from mines, is now ready for cultivation. He praised civilians’ awareness of the danger of mines and stressed the importance of reporting landmines and other suspicious items and not tampering with them.
The mines removed from the farm had been planted above the main water line that feeds villages of the Hays district with fresh water, he added.
