Project Masam’s demining Team 42 has successfully removed dozens of anti-tank mines during recent survey and clearance operations in the southern sector of the Midi district, Hajjah Governorate in northwestern Yemen.

Team Leader Engineer Abdulrahman Dhiab reported that the team identified and safely cleared 38 anti-tank mines, fully securing the area for civilian use.

He noted that many of the devices were severely corroded due to prolonged exposure to harsh environmental conditions, further increasing the risk of accidental detonation. These mines posed a significant threat to farmers, herders, and returning families.

According to Dhiab, Houthi forces had previously laid extensive minefields and planted improvised explosive devices across southern Midi prior to their withdrawal. These actions have caused dozens of civilian casualties, including women and children, and have resulted in major losses of livestock and agricultural livelihoods.

He reaffirmed Project Masam’s ongoing commitment to clearing all affected areas in and around Midi, restoring safety for communities, and enabling residents to return to their homes and land without fear of hidden explosives.
