Project Masam removes 772 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 772 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in September 2023.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that last week the teams managed to remove nine anti-personnel mines, 41 anti-tank mines, 718 UXO and four IEDs, bringing the total of items cleared in the last month to 5,110 including 24 anti-personnel landmines, 456 anti-tank mines, 4,594 UXO and 36 IEDs.

The project’s demining teams cleared 209,310 square metres of Yemeni territory last week.

Since the launch of the project in mid-June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 49,106,944 square metres of Yemeni land.
