Project Masam removes 4,338 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 4,338 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in August 2023.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that last week the teams managed to remove 11 anti-personnel mines, 67 anti-tank mines, 1,322 UXO and three IEDs, bringing the total cleared so far in August to 11 anti-personnel mines, 415 anti-tank mines, 3,876 UXO and 32 IEDs.

The project’s demining teams cleared 219,738 square metres of Yemeni territory last week, bringing the total land cleared this month to 873,578.

Since the launch of the project in mid-June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 49,106,944 square metres of Yemeni land.
