Project Masam removes 2,617 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,617 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in September 2023.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams managed to remove 22 anti-personnel mines, 258 anti-tank mines, 2,328 UXO and nine IEDs since the beginning of the month.

The project’s demining teams cleared 672,278 square metres of Yemeni territory in September.

Last week, the project’s demining teams cleared 10 anti-personnel landmines, 125 anti-tank mines, 728 UXO and three IEDs.

Since the launch of the project in mid-June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 49,567,919 square metres of Yemeni land.
