Project Masam removes 1,013 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,068 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the month of August so far.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that last week the teams managed to remove two anti-personnel mines, 112 anti-tank mines, 926 UXO and 15 IEDs, bringing the total cleared so far in August to two anti-personnel mines, 235 anti-tank mines, 1,1816 UXO and 15 IEDs.

The project’s demining teams cleared 230,428 square metres of Yemeni territory last week, bringing the total land cleared this month to 505,525.

Sincethe launch of the project at the end of June 2018 until 4 August 2023, Project Masam teams have cleared 48,508,463 square meters of Yemeni land.
