To celebrate International Women’s Day on Friday 8 March, Project Masam held a dinner in honour of the pivotal role played by women in society and their impact on social development in Yemen.

The banquet was attended by a number of Their Highness the Princesses, including HRH Princess Haifa bint Faisal Al Saud, as well as female officials, academics, and media professionals, who expressed their appreciation for Project Masam’s initiative and praised the project’s role in preserving lives and ending the threat of landmines that targeted Yemeni women and innocent civilians in Yemen.

In a speech made on the sidelines of the ceremony, HRH Princess Haifa Al Faisal: “I thank all workers in Project Masam for their enormous and humanitarian efforts. I am proud of them and their work.

The monarch added: “On International Women’s Day, I thank all the women working in Project Masam. Also, we should not forget the efforts of men, whose work is so important. I wish them all the best and pray that God will protect them during their mission, which we all know how dangerous it is. They are all in our hearts.”

During the dinner, attendees discussed how Project Masam’s successes have contributed to preserving the lives of innocent people from landmines and other remnants of war, in addition to stopping the displacement of women and children in Yemen as well as creating a situation that is conducive for social stability – especially as tens of thousands of Yemenis have been displaced because of mines.

The empowerment of women under the rule of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as well as their efforts in highlighting Project Masam’s role internationally, regionally and locally were also praised.
