Project Masam has destroyed and detonated 2,300 weapons and unexploded ordnance in the Al-Wadi District, in Marib Governorate.
On 7 May, a woman was killed and three other civilians were injured in the uncontrolled explosion at a weapons depot located near a internal displaced persons (IDPs) camp Samda area in Marib in northeastern Yemen. The blast destroyed and burned dozens of IDP’s homes.
Project Masam’s Team 13 was immediately dispatched to the location, where it cleared thousands of shells and remnants of war.
Project Masam’s Operations Room confirmed that these shells and ordnance, which were disposed of today (13 May), were removed by demining Team 13 in the Samda area of Marib.
“The team’s mission to remove and secure the shells and ordnances resulting from the explosion of a weapons depot in the Samda area is still ongoing until the lives of displaced people and local residents are secured from any potential risks”, Project Masam added.
