On the occasion of the 34th Yemen National Unity Day, Project Masam’s Managing Director Ousama Algosaibi has offered his sincere congratulations to the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of the Republic of Yemen and all Yemenis, wishing for a peaceful and prosperous future for all.
Held on 22 May, Yemen Unification Day commemorates the unification of North Yemen and South Yemen on this date in 1990.
In a statement, the managing director of Project Masam, which celebrated several days ago the end of its sixth year of work in Yemen, during which it shared the sacrifices and hard work of many Yemenis to achieve security and enable them to go about their daily lives in peace, congratulated His Excellency Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi.
Algosaibi expressed his pride that the project, which includes more than 550 employees the majority of which are Yemenis, has worked since its first day to train, supervise and mentor Yemeni experts across a wide range of specialties, and worked side by side with its Yemeni partner, the Yemen Executive Mine Action Centre, to develop technical and training programmes and exchange experiences in the field of mine clearance, expressing the project’s readiness to expand all training and qualification operations for Yemeni personnel.
In its humanitarian landmine clearance mission to rid Yemen of landmines and other explosive devices, Project Masam has lost 30 staff, and dozens have been injured on duty.
The managing director added that the project, which is supervised by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief), has made transformative achievements across liberated Yemeni territories, underlining the support it has received from the Yemeni government, led by His Excellency the Yemeni Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak.
Earlier this week, Project Masam announced that its demining teams cleared a total of 56,446,479 sqm of land inside Yemen of 6,516 anti-personnel mines, 144,360 anti-tank mines, 283,170 unexploded ordnance (UXO), and 8,031 imporvised explosive devices (IEDs) since launch in June 2018.
