Project Masam clears 5,495 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

As of 3 October 2025, Project Masam’s demining teams have cleared a total of 5,495 explosive devices and 1,421,678 square metres of land across Yemen during September 2025. These latest figures highlight the project’s ongoing nationwide operations to safeguard civilians and enable safe access to homes, roads, and vital infrastructure.

During the most recent reporting week (27 September – 3 October 2025), Project Masam teams removed 1,319 explosive devices, including 26 anti-personnel mines, 65 anti-tank mines, 1,227 items of unexploded ordnance (UXO), and one improvised explosive device (IED). Clearance operations during this period covered 252,556 square metres of land.

Since its launch in mid-2018, Project Masam has removed 517,818 explosive devices across Yemen – including 6,911 anti-personnel mines, 147,447 anti-tank mines, 355,182 UXO, and 8,278 IEDs – clearing a total of 71,164,694 square metres of land for safe civilian use.
