Project Masam clears 4,245 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 4,245 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in February 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 731 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including four anti-personnel mines, 93 anti-tank mines, 622 UXO and 12 IEDs, bringing the total of items cleared in January to 4,245.

The project’s demining teams cleared 293,294 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total area cleared last month to 1,214,905 square metres, according to the statement.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 54,081,649 square meters of Yemeni land.
