Project Masam clears 3,514 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 3,514 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in January 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 733 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including two anti-personnel mines, 126 anti-tank mines, 602 UXO and three IEDs, bringing the total items cleared since the beginning of the month to 3,514.

Indeed, since the beginning of the month, Project Masam’s deminers cleared seven anti-personnel landmines, 487 anti-tank mines, 3,002 UXO and 17 IEDs.

The project’s demining teams cleared 246,800 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total cleared since the beginning of January to 921,611 square metres.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 53,788,355 square meters of Yemeni land.
