Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 3,038 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in October 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 829 landmines and UXO last week, including one anti-personnel landmine, 49 anti-tank mines, 777 UXO and two IEDs during the period. This brings the total number of items removed between 1 October and 11 October to 3,038.
The project teams removed nine anti-personnel landmines, 203 anti-tank mines, 2,817 and nine IEDs during the same period.
The project’s demining teams cleared 184,610 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement, bringing the total cleared so far this month to 697,974.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 60,966,325 square metres of Yemeni land.
