Project Masam clears 3,015 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 3,015 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in December 2023.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 719 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including 615 UXO and 102 anti-tank mines, bringing the total of explosives that have been removed since the beginning of this month to 3,015.

Since the beginning of the month, Project Masam’s deminers cleared 2,525 UXO and 444 anti-tank mines.

The project’s demining teams cleared 279,594 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total land cleared so far in December to 822,725.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Masam teams have cleared 52,866,744 square meters of Yemeni land.
