Project Masam clears 2,948 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,948 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in February 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 669 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including 23 anti-personnel mines, 109 anti-tank mines and 537 UXO, bringing the total of items cleared in February to 2,948.

The project’s demining teams cleared 250,600 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total area cleared last month to 1,094,165 square metres, according to the statement.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 54,925,214 square meters of Yemeni land.
