Project Masam clears 2,810 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,810 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in June 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 1,556 landmines and UXO last week, including 52 anti-tank mines, 1,503 UXO and one IED, bringing the total of anti-personnel mines, anti-tank mines, UXO and IEDs cleared so far this month to one. 70, 2,735 and four, respectively.

The project’s demining teams cleared 171,120 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 57,286,379 square meters of Yemeni land.
