Project Masam clears 2,781 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,781 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in January 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 1,010 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including 890 UXO and 117 anti-tank mines, bringing the total of explosives that have been removed since the beginning of this month to 2,781.

Since the beginning of the month, Project Masam’s deminers cleared five anti-personnel landmines and 14 IEDs.

The project’s demining teams cleared 157,848 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total land cleared in Yemen this month to 674,811.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 53,541,55 square meters of Yemeni land.
