Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,296 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in December 2023.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 826 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including 681 UXO and 116 anti-tank mines, bringing the total of explosives that have been removed since the beginning of this month to 2,296.
Since the beginning of the month, Project Masam’s deminers cleared 1,910 UXO and 342 anti-tank mines.
The project’s demining teams cleared 205,009 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total land cleared so far in December to 543,131.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Masam teams have cleared 52,587,150 square meters of Yemeni land.
