Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,279 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in February 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 727 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including six anti-personnel mines, 134 anti-tank mines and 587 UXO, bringing the total of items cleared in February to 2,279.
The project’s demining teams cleared 318,680 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total area cleared last month to 843,565 square metres, according to the statement.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 54,925,214 square meters of Yemeni land.
