Project Masam clears 1,861 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 1,861 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in March 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 629 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including 105 anti-tank mines and 520 UXO, bringing the total of items cleared in March to 1,861.

The project’s demining teams cleared 3,845 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total area cleared last month to 212,258 square metres, according to the statement.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 55,388,072 square meters of Yemeni land.
