Project Masam clears 1,559 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams cleared a total of 1,559 explosive devices, including landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), during July 2025.

According to Project Masam’s Operations Room, the teams removed 1,559 explosive items during the final week 28 June – 4 July, including one anti-personnel mine, 45 anti-tank mines, and 1,513 UXO. No IEDs were reported during that week.

In terms of land area, Project Masam teams cleared 176,179 square metres during the first week of July.

Since the launch of Project Masam in mid-2018, its teams have cleared 504,295 explosive devices in total. This includes 6,821 anti-personnel mines, 146,784 anti-tank mines, 342,446 UXO, and 8,244 IEDs.

The total area of land cleared to date now stands at 68,147,451 square metres.

Project Masam remains focused on making Yemen’s liberated areas safer for civilians by prioritising the clearance of villages, roads, schools, and critical infrastructure.
