Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 1,552 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in February 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 768 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including two anti-personnel mines, 112 anti-tank mines and 654 UXO, bringing the total of items cleared in February to 1,552.
The project’s demining teams cleared 246,532 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total area cleared last month to 524,885 square metres, according to the statement.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 54,606 534 square meters of Yemeni land.
