Bayhan directorate suffered enormously from the deadly landmines. It witnessed many horrible stories that won’t be forgotten by its inhabitants, as the landmines denied them the right to a source of living, and its students the right to go to schools and universities. Landmines broke the community’s bonds and shattered their dreams and hopes.
Bayhan has been for years in such a miserable state, until Masam came to its territories afflicted by the terror buried underground. Masam started its generous benevolent journey to plant the seeds of life again in Bayhan. And today, the seeds of life became trees, and Bayhan is healing from the sickness of landmines.
The Deputy Leader of team 4 Masam, Engineer Hasan Baras indicated that Bayhan directorate in Shabwah province was a region afflicted by landmines, because the Houthis planted landmines there deliberately and extensively, using cunning methods in the process, by camouflaging them in order to make them hard to be detected by civlians.
Engineer Hasan Baras said in an exclusive interview with Masam’s media office that Masam’s clearing teams working in Shabwah province were able during the last two years to protect civilians from the danger of landmines, secure their lives from the landmines that were planted in their homes, farms, roads and all the places where civilians gather.
Engineer Baras added that his team is working now on clearing the region of Al Jazia’, Jabal Dakam in Bayhan directorate to secure it from the landmines, noting that the Houthis planted anti-personnel landmines massively in the region, and they are, according to him, the most dangerous for civilians.
Masam’s team was able to clear 1600 square meters of the region up to now, as team 4 Masam is making huge efforts to finish securing the entire region of Jazia’ and Jabal Dakam. Engineer Baras indicated that the morale of the team members is high, and that their hearts are filled with enthusiasm and strong will to achieve their humanitarian goal and protect indefinitely the civilians from the danger of landmines.
For his part, the beekeeper Mohammad Saleh, who is one of Al Jazia’s inhabitants, confirmed that the region was planted with landmines, and civilians were living in a state of terror because the Houthis planted landmines at random and in many regions, which led to the fall of a number of victims among civilians.
The beekeeper Mohammad, in an exclusive interview with Masam’s media office praised project Masam. He said that Masam’s clearing teams made huge efforts and were able in the past period to clear a number of fields and mined areas, and that thanks to them life returned back to normal and hope to live a secure life returned to civilians after living constantly in a state of fear and terror.
Thanks to Masam’s efforts, normal life is being restored in Bayhan, which is being taken by Masam towards a landmine-free safe shore. This is the dream of every Yemeni, a dream that Masam is making huge efforts and racing against time in order to realize it effectively, in a record time.
