Masam removes 5,290 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices

Project Masam’s operations room has announced that last week, the project teams have removed 675 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices last week, bringing the total number of explosives removed from early January up to 5,290.

In its statement, Project Masam said that the project teams have removed 5,463 unexploded ordnance (UXO) and eight improvised explosive device (IED) since the beginning of the month. Management added that the project teams removed this week during the same period 665 anti-tank and 54 anti-personnel mines.

Last week (28 January 2022 – 3 February 2023), the Masam teams succeeded in clearing 232,960sqm of the Yemen liberated land, bringing the total area cleared since the beginning of the project in mid-2018 to 43,845,128sqm.
