Project Masam is honoured to have received an award for its humanitarian efforts and role in saving Yemeni lives, from the Sheba University in Yemen’s Marib.

The event, organised by academics and activists on Sunday, was held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of Yemen, and neighbouring Saudi Arabia’s National Day.

The Undersecretary of Marib Governorate Abdullah Al-Bakri handed the Protector of Humanity awards to Project Masam’s Director Ousama Al-Gosaibi, highlighting the project’s successes in saving Yemeni lives from buried landmines.

Al-Bakri explained that Project Masam, under the umbrella of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, has had a pivotal and major role in protecting and saving millions of Yemenis from landmines, and added that the Yemeni people will not forget the sacrifices of deminers killed whilst exercising their humanitarian roles.

Muhammad Al-Qudsi, President of Sheba University, thanked Masam for their role in allowing civilians to return to living normal lives, including accessing education and higher education.

Over the past 18 months, Project Masam clearance teams have been adapting activities and approaches amid moving frontlines near and around the northern city of Marib.
