Masam experts in Aden sector and the West Coast carried out a periodic visit to the demining teams operating in Mawza’a and Al-Mokha Directorates in Taiz Governorate.
Experts visit included Team 20 Masam, who is currently working in Algabal Alaswad region of Al-Mokha Directorate, as well as Team 17, who is currently working in Hais Bin Alwan area in Mawza’a Directorate.
During the visit, the leader of Team 17, Engineer Hassan Al-Jhouri, confirmed that his team was able to secure a minefield of 2,000 square meters during December.
Al-Jhouri told Masam Media Office that his team moved since the beginning of this month to secure a new field in the same area, and work will continue until the area is completely cleared and local residents can safely practice their daily live routine.
For his part, Deputy in charge of Team 20, Masam, Engineer Saleh Mohamed, confirmed that his team had managed since early January to secure a minefield in Algabal Alaswad region of Al-Mokha Directorate, with an estimated size of 1,200 square meters.
Saleh Muhammad Ali said that, the team will continue working until Algabal Alaswad region is completely secured and shepherds’ lives are safe, as this is a grazing area, and mines have already caused the death of a number of citizens’ livestock and sheep.
