Masam destroys 686 landmines and explosive devices in Bab al-Mandab

Project Masam has destroyed and detonated 686 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices in the Bab al-Mandab district in the Yemeni governorate of Taiz.

In a statement, Engineer Yasser Salem Al-Mazloumi, deputy leader of the task force in Aden and the West Coast Sector, said that the destruction operation carried out by Masam on January 18 included 247 anti-tank mines, 163 unexploded ordnance and shells, 256 various projectiles, in addition to 16 anti-personnel mines and four explosive devices.

d is the result of Masam teams’s clearance in the districts of Mawza, Al-Mokha, Al-Khawkhah, Al-Wazi’iyah and Hays, during the past few weeks.

Al-Mazloumi called upon all civilians in the West Coast, who recently returned from displacement, to not rush and enter any area that has not yet been officially secured by Project Masam’s demining teams, and to adhere to the instructions and landmine warning signs.
