Project Masam for Yemeni lands clearance of mines carried out a process of destroying and detonating 1303 mines, explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance in Bab al-Mandab district on the western coast.
The destruction operation, which was carried out by team 30 Masam for Missile Collection , included 151 anti-tank mines, 4 anti-personnel mines, 28 miscellaneous rounds, 950 miscellaneous ammunition, 165 fuses, one bomb and 4 explosive devices.
The destruction operation, which was overseen by a team of Masam operations experts in Aden and the West Coast, was attended by Brigadier General Qaid Haitham, Executive Director of the National Mine Action Center in Aden.
Project Masam works in Yemen with 32 engineering teams distributed in 8 liberated Yemeni governorates, starting from Al-Yatma in Al-Jawf Governorate and ending in Al-Durayhimi District in Al-Hudaydah Governorate.
Last week, Masam’s teams were able to clear 1,402 mines, bringing the total of what was cleared from the start of the project until October 2,2020, 189,197 mines, explosive devices and unexploded ordnance.
