The cruellest and most awful of the world’s mechanisms of military destruction is trampled by the Yemeni man without being aware of its existence to wreak havoc in his body. It’s a poisoned gift that Houthi militias gave to Yemeni territory. The Houthi landmines are a curse that turned Yemen into a heap of ruins and a lot of citizens with special needs.
Landmines have stolen their limbs, deprived them of a normal life, took away their dreams and became a guillotine that is waiting for the opportunity to kill innocent people. Citizens in Yemen are reaping the hatred that the rebels have planted in their land and paying for it from their lives and bodies.
Through looking there, you see witnesses to Houthi crimes who have survived, but they have come out with serious injuries and suffering that summarizes the tragedy of a country that Iranian militias seek to eliminate its present and future.
The story of the 12-year-old (Shurooq Hussein Qaizaa’) is an evidence of the terrorism of Houthi militias, where she was killed by a landmine explosion planted by the evil hands in “al-Muwaze’a” directorate, west of Taizz province while collecting firewood.
Also, a farmer died as a result of a landmine explosion while he was plowing his farm in “Al Hayma” area in “At Tuhayta” district, south of “Al Hudaydah” Governorate.
The Houthi militias have admitted planting more than 2,500 minefields in “Al-Manthar” and “Al-Manassa” areas southwest of “Al Hudaydah” Governorate, confirming their dark intentions that they have for the Yemeni people.
After more than five years of the war waged by the Houthi gang, the death toll seems very heavy, while the unprecedented humanitarian crisis threatens millions of people. The United Nations says that 14 million people, or half of Yemen’s population, will soon face famine. The World Food Program (WFP) says more than 15 million people are in “crisis” or “emergency” and that the number could increase to 20 million unless food aid reaches them consistently.
In addition, the health care and sanitation systems have stopped completely, leading to the outbreaks of epidemics and diseases.
However, project Masam remained the obstacle that hindered the achievement of a number of its crimes thanks to the efforts of those working in it and its firm belief in the right of Yemenis to have a safe life. It was able to achieve a good humanitarian achievement after removing 100,000 landmines, explosive device and unexploded ordnance from Yemen in a period not exceeding one year and four months, despite the difficulties, obstacles and threats faced by the field teams and workers.
The Director of Relations and Coordination in project Masam, “Mr. Mohammed Al-Wallas” said that these landmines and unexploded ordnance have been removed from five governorates, pointing out that 17 thousand landmines and explosive devices were removed from “Al Jawf” governorate alone.
