More often than not in Yemen, women bear the burdens of running the households under extreme stress.

Fathia Saleh Muhammad Bin Muhammad comes from Taiz. When the frontlines moved closer and closer, the roads and dirt paths near her were closed off. The family struggled to meet their daily needs.

“We did not have firewood, and we were facing a major crisis. When I was carrying a bundle of firewood, a mine exploded under me, my husband and my brother”.

Fathia lost her left leg, and was in and out of hospital.

She called for Project Masam and other landmine clearance organisations to continue their efforts to rid Yemen of landmines.
