Project Masam has cleared a total of 3,166 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices during the first week of February 2026, as part of its ongoing humanitarian mine action operations across Yemen’s liberated areas.

The weekly total includes five anti-personnel mines, 1,027 anti-tank mines, and 2,134 items of unexploded ordnance (UXO). No improvised explosive devices were recorded during the reporting period. These hazards were found in civilian areas, including villages, farmland, access routes, and locations affected by fighting where explosive contamination continues to restrict movement, livelihoods, and access to essential services.

Over the same period, Project Masam demining teams secured 317,226 square metres of land, making it safe for civilian use. Areas released during the week include residential communities, agricultural land, access routes, and land surrounding key infrastructure.

Alongside clearance operations, Project Masam teams continue to systematically document the location, type, and condition of explosive devices found in civilian areas. This field based documentation supports a clearer understanding of contamination patterns and the humanitarian impact of landmines and explosive remnants of war.

Clearance activities during the first week of February were carried out despite difficult terrain, security constraints, and high levels of metal contamination in some locations. Teams continue to apply internationally recognised procedures to ensure all cleared land is fully verified before being released for civilian use.
