Project Masam clears 4,726 landmines, UXO, and IEDs during November 2025

Project Masam has announced that its teams cleared 4,726 explosive items across Yemen during the period 1-28 November 2025, as part of its nationwide mission to remove landmines and explosive remnants of war from liberated areas.

This month-to-date total includes 23 anti-personnel mines, 616 anti-tank mines, 4,070 items of unexploded ordnance, and 17 improvised explosive devices. During the same period, clearance teams made 1,658,647 square metres of land safe for farming, grazing, access routes, and residential use.

In the latest reporting week alone (22-28 November), Masam teams cleared 961 explosive items, consisting of six anti-personnel mines, 92 anti-tank mines, 862 UXO, and one improvised explosive device. Teams also released 413,778 square metres of contaminated land back to communities.

Since its launch in mid-2018, Project Masam has cleared 526,460 explosive devices and over 74 million square metres of land across Yemen’s liberated regions, significantly reducing long-term risks for families, humanitarian actors, and returning communities.

Through close coordination with local authorities, YEMAC, and conflict-affected populations, Project Masam remains committed to restoring safe conditions and supporting Yemen’s wider recovery.
