Project Masam’s Team 38 has cleared an anti-tank minefield following a civilian report west of Al-Makhzen village in the Midi District of northern Hajjah Governorate.

According to team leader Engineer Saif Al-Mashmari, the team immediately moved to the site after receiving the report from Hassan Bilal, who had discovered the mines hile grazing livestock near a populated area.

The team conducted a technical survey of the site and successfully neutralised several landmines – ensuring the safety of nearby residents.

Al-Mashmari urges residents to stay away from areas suspected of mine contamination until clearance operations are fully completed, stressing that these explosives pose a serious threat to civilians and their livestock.

In addition, Team 38 carried out an explosive ordnance risk education (EORE) awareness campaign for the residents of Al-Makhzen village to educate them about the dangers of landmines and unexploded ordnance, and how to report any suspicious objects to help protect their community.

Hajjah Governorate, located in northwestern Yemen near the Saudi border, has been heavily affected by years of conflict.

Intense fighting and shifting frontlines have left large areas contaminated with Houthi landmines and unexploded ordnance. These explosives continue to endanger civilians, especially in rural districts like Midi, where farming and herding are part of daily life.

Project Masam operates across Hajjah to identify, clear, and safely destroy these deadly remnants of war, helping restore safety and stability for affected communities.
