Project Masam has carried out an operation on Thursday (2 October) to demolish 3,977 Houthi landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices in the Bab al-Mandab area of Taiz Governorate, western Yemen.
The operation was supervised and executed by the Project’s Special Task Team 2, as part of Project Masam’s ongoing efforts to clear Yemeni land of explosive threats that endanger civilian lives.
The destroyed items included:

31 anti-tank mines

28 anti-personnel mines

39 shells of various types
-
22 improvised explosive devices (IEDs)
-
2,139 rounds of ammunition of different calibers
-
1,705 fuses and stun lighters
-
11 rockets
-
Two hand grenades
This operation is part of a series of demolition and clearance activities conducted by Project Masam across liberated Yemeni governorates, aimed at removing mines and remnants of war and restoring safe and stable living conditions for civilians.
To date, Project Masam’s operations have cleared millions of square meters of contaminated land, playing a vital role in saving lives and bringing hope and normalcy back to communities long threatened by explosive hazards.
