Project Masam clears 4,735 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

As of 29 August 2025, Project Masam teams have cleared a total of 4,735 explosive devices and 1,048,135 square metres of land in Yemen during the month of August alone.

These figures reflect the project’s sustained efforts across multiple governorates, where demining operations continue to prioritise civilian areas, including homes, roads, and critical infrastructure.

During the most recent reporting week (23 – 29 August 2025), Project Masam demining teams removed 968 explosive devices, including four anti-personnel mines, 32 anti-tank mines, 925 items of unexploded ordnance (UXO), and seven improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Clearance operations during this period covered 242,492 square metres.

Since its launch in mid-2018, Project Masam has cleared 512,323 explosive devices across Yemen. This includes 6,844 anti-personnel mines, 147,121 anti-tank mines, 350,086 UXO, and 8,272 IEDs.

To date, Project Masam’s operations have covered more than 69.7 million square metres of cleared land.
