Project Masam clears 5,192 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams cleared a total of 5,192 explosive devices – including landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during June 2025.

According to Project Masam’s Operations Room, the teams removed 1,493 explosive items during the week of 21–27 June, including 14 anti-personnel mines, 27 anti-tank mines, 1,448 UXO and four IEDs.

In terms of land area, teams cleared 222,566 square metres during 21–27 June, raising the June 2025 total to 538,276 square metres.

Since the launch of Project Masam in mid-2018, its teams have cleared 502,736 explosive devices in total. This includes 6,820 anti-personnel mines, 146,739 anti-tank mines, 340,933 UXO and 8,244 IEDs.

The total area of land cleared to date now stands at 67,971,272 square metres.

Project Masam remains focused on making Yemen’s liberated areas safer for civilians by prioritizing the clearance of villages, roads, schools, and critical infrastructure.
