Project Masam clears 3,699 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 3,699 explosive devices – including landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) – during June 2025 up to the 20th.

According to Project Masam’s Operations Room, the teams removed 1,243 explosive items in the week of 14–20 June, including four anti-personnel mines, 57 anti-tank mines, and 1,182 UXO. No IEDs were reported during this week.

In terms of land area, the teams cleared 163,539 square metres during that same period, bringing the total area cleared so far in June 2025 to 315,710 square metres.

Since the launch of Project Masam in June 2018, its teams have cleared 501,243 explosive devices in total. This includes 6,802 anti-personnel mines, 146,712 anti-tank mines, 339,485 UXO, and 8,240 IEDs. The total area of land cleared to date now stands at 67,748,706 square metres.

Project Masam remains focused on making Yemen’s liberated areas safer for civilians by prioritizing areas of immediate humanitarian need, such as roads, schools, and villages, in its clearance efforts.
